The Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph and remain silent during the ride. There are no sponsors and no registration fees. The ride, which is held during National Bike Month, aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. The ride is also a chance to show respect for those who have been killed or injured. -via Ride of Silence
This year we have heard many stories of people being hit and/or injured while riding their bike in and around Bakersfield. We have also lost fellow cyclist within the last year. We would once again like to provide the opportunity to show support to those riders. If you are a rider that has been injured or know of someone. Please Please join us on MAY 19 at 7pm. We will be leaving from the Town and Country Shopping Center.
